As I wrote more songs for the E.P. a country sound began to form and this song seemed to fit into this. Although, originally, I had wanted a larger instrumentation with clarinet and violin, this more stripped-down version seemed to fit better with the rest of the material. The acrostic ‘IN LOVE’ section in the bridge is highlighted by the backing vocals. The original concept of the song was to write about being in a clique of 2. I attempted to, after the bridge section, sing a line to the listener. I hope this comes across without disrupting the flow of the song.
lyrics
2. Piss Off In Love
Verse 1
Didn’t know I loved you, thought love was supposed to make me cry?
Turns out that wasn’t love, creepin’ along by my side.
This circle of life, I see the world as a heartless place.
People they pass me by, but I find rescue in your face.
Your voice is golden toned, I listen to it and I smile.
When I don’t hear you speak, I’m sad if it’s been a while.
Chorus
And as long as I have you.
I’ll have a home, a sense of belonging to.
I’ll never leave your for too long.
But every now and then I’ll be gone.
Verse 2
We don’t need any rules we’ll make it up as we go along.
No 5 year plan, counting down all year long.
Marry me yesterday, won’t you save me from my past?
With you I’ve found my way, I never had to ask.
Chorus
And as long as I have you.
I’ll have a home, a sense of belonging to.
I’ll never leave your for too long.
But every now and then I’ll be gone.
Bridge
I know it sounds the truth.
Now I’m right glad I bumped into you.
Life wasn’t great before we crossed paths.
Only 7 years ago it was.
Very few are as lucky as us.
Every-one else can piss off.
In love, in love, in love, in love, in love, in love, in love.
Instrumental break
Verse 3
Why are people so selfish? They just take what you can get.
Wait you’ll find your way, don’t become another dick head.
I smile with gritted teeth, for the world beyond you and me.
We are in love, the two of us is family.
Chorus
And as long as I have you.
I’ll have a home, a sense of belonging to.
I’ll never leave your for too long.
But every now and then I’ll be gone.
Outro
I’ll be coming home to you.
I’ll be coming home to you.
I’ll be coming home to you.
I’ll be coming home to you.
Coming home to you.
I’ll be coming home to you.
I’ll be coming home to you.
I’ll be coming home to you.
I’ll be coming home to you.
I’ll be coming home to you.
I’ll be coming home to you.
